Art, Music and Drama, as the Creative Arts, allow for a freedom of expression and creativity arguably not available, in quite the same way, in other disciplines. They are at the heart of culture and civilisation and regarded with great respect (and considerable resourcing) at Radley.
Lessons in the Shell year are allocated at two periods for Art and one for Music. While Drama is not formally taught in the Shell year, the entire year group engages in the annual Haddon Cup inter-social drama competition, and keen actors can enroll in the Shell Play. As Options at GCSE, these subjects are taught for either four or five periods per cycle, depending on the option block and year. In the sixth form, all subjects are taught for ten periods a cycle.
