J Social

J Social

J Social, along with K next door, is one of the youngest of the Radley Socials and as a purpose built boarding house is perfectly situated to cater for the diverse interests of its 70 boys: close to the majority of the academic departments, the Theatre and Music school complex and with CCF, the rowing tank and hard tennis courts just outside our back door we are right at the heart of everything that Radley has to offer.

With cocoa on every night of the week, including Trish's legendary cheese toastie Sunday evenings, the focus is very much on integration between the year groups, and with Tutor, Sub-Tutor and Pastoral Housemistress living on site with their children, the feel is one of a close-knit family of 80!

The aim is for each boy to feel happy and confident enough to shine in whatever field he may choose independently as well as aware of the value of interacting within a supportive community.

J Social Tutor, Master I/C of Rackets
Having joined Radley in 2014, it has been great to be involved in so many aspects of school life. Life started off as Resident Sub-Tutor in G Social and teaching Biology. As Master-in-Charge of Rackets, JC1 Hockey and JC1 Cricket coach plenty of time is spent in the sporting arena. In addition, I have enjoyed fulfilling the role of Head of Shells and playing a role on the Safeguarding team. In 2020, I took over the role as Tutor of J Social.

Biology Teacher, J Social Sub-Tutor
I began my teaching career after completing my DPhil in the field of Molecular Virology at the University of Oxford. I joined Radley College in 2018 having previously taught at d’Overbroeck’s Oxford and Stowe School, and was fortunate enough to be assigned to the J Social sub-tutor team. In my second year I was able to take on the role of resident sub-tutor in J, having gained significant experience in a similar role at Stowe School. Outside of life in the Social, I teach Biology, coach Hockey and Tennis and am a Lieutenant in the Army section of the CCF. I am joined in Social by my wife Sarah (who is a also technician in the Biology department), my two daughters Megan and Imogen and our two dogs Toby and Barney.
