Novel Coronavirus Guidance

We remain vigilant to the situation regarding Novel Wuhan Coronavirus and, as you may be aware, have cancelled some College events as a precaution. We are receiving regular updates from Public Health England, WHO and the BSA.

Radley is continuing to update its advice with regard to the Covid-19 virus. The latest letter to parents is here.

For College information about travel restriction zones, please refer these guidelines.

For all up to date Guidance for the Public, which is updated at least daily, please refer to the advice from Public Health England

The team is supported by a Healthcare Assistant and Administrator. Each member of the Nursing Team has an area of interest or expertise on a variety of topics, including Asthma, Acne and Emotional Health. A named nurse is attached to each Social, so as to act as a “Link” and will liaise regularly with Pastoral Housemistresses and Tutors regarding the boys or particular areas of healthcare.

There are eight inpatient beds within the Medical Centre for unwell or injured boys. On week days, a GP from Long Furlong Medical Centre holds a Surgery here during Short Break. Appointments can be made through the Medical Centre via email, phone, PHM or in person. The Medical Centre also makes appointments for the Physiotherapist once a GP referral has been made to see them. The Physiotherapy Clinic runs twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during games sessions.

During games sessions in Michaelmas Term, the First Aid and Sports Health Coordinator is in attendance pitch side. On match days he is accompanied by a doctor. In Lent Term, the First Aid and Sports Health Coordinator is in attendance pitch side on match days.

The nurses give Childhood Immunisations in line with the National Programme. We are also able to provide Travel Vaccinations for school trips though some of these may incur a fee. We can offer advice on private travel plus the travel vaccinations that are available on the NHS. We are unable to offer private travel vaccinations for private travel.

Alex Gilley
Alex Gilley
Lead Nurse
Few people are able to realise their childhood dreams and ambitions so I consider myself fortunate to have realised mine. For as long as I am able to remember, nursing was the only career path I wanted to travel so I feel extremely fortunate to have arrived at Radley College Medical Centre as Lead Nurse in 2012. Prior to joining Radley, I worked for the NHS, spending time in Vascular Surgery, Coronary Care as well as Accident and Emergency before settling in Acute Medicine for eleven years where I progressed to Sister of a busy Assessment Unit. The Radley College Medical Centre is an incredibly team-driven and student-centred environment, which I am extremely proud to lead. I feel privileged to work with an incredible student body and find my work rewarding and positively challenging in equal measure.
