Radley Admissions Process

Radley Admissions Process

Welcome to Radley Admissions

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions that you make for your child and the Admissions Office would be delighted to hear from you if you are considering Radley as an option. Of course, coming to see the school and meeting the boys and staff is by far the best way of knowing whether Radley will be the right place for your son, and we would be very happy to arrange a visit. However, as an initial first step, we hope that these pages will give you a good guide to the admissions process, whatever the age your son.

Enter your son's date of birth to discover the key steps to joining us.
What is your son's date of birth?

The vast majority of boys (around 145 each year) enter Radley at the age of 13 and stay until they have completed A levels aged 18.  We also welcome Sixth Form entry, aged 16, and very occasionally have spaces in the Removes.

For 13+ entry, boys can be registered either from birth or at a later date. The main entry process begins when boys are nearing the end of Year 5.

Applications from overseas candidates are welcomed.  Please go to our overseas page for details.

To book a visit, obtain a registration form or discuss the entry procedure, please feel free to contact the Admissions Office - you might find it useful to use the Start Your Journey calculator above for guidance on the process. Alternatively, you can complete the Enquiry Form and we will be able to give you more details of the entry process for your son.

Funded Places and Scholarships

Radley is able to offer a considerable number of fully or partly funded places to talented boys and our door is always open to applicants from families who, without financial support, would otherwise be unable to afford our school fees. Funded places are available at 11+, 13+ and 16+. Any talented candidate can enter scholarships at 13+ for academic, music, sport, art and drama. Awards are made either as Honorary Scholarships/Exhibitions (no additional funding), 5% funding (top scholarships) or means-tested awards up to 100%.

Sophie Langdale
Sophie Langdale
Director of Admissions and Communications
Born and bred in a boarding school, three generations of my family were educated at Radley – my father, brother and son – so I am very proud to be part of this wonderful, dynamic and caring community. I joined Radley in September 2020 from Wycombe Abbey, a girls’ boarding school, where I was Director of Admissions. Prior to that I was Director of Admissions and External Relations at Magdalen College School, Oxford for nearly a decade. Having read Classics and played a lot of lacrosse at Durham University, my early career spanned fifteen years in finance and broadcast journalism at Sky News. I live in Oxford with my two children. I very much look forward to welcoming you to Radley, getting to know you and your son and guiding you through the admissions process.
